Hi BIKEY - welcome to the forums!!!
I'd say it's a good step in seeing a psychologist, but - did she prescribe the medication? Psychologists can't prescribe meds, only psychiatrists, and if that is the case, and she is a psychiatrist, they tend to do very little besides give medication.
Finding the right medication for one's illness is never easy, and more often than not becomes a trial and error period. Please remember that depression is, oftentimes, a chemical imbalance that needs medication to balance out so that a person can begin to feel better.
The best suggestion I would have, and please know that I am not a doctor, is to go to the medical doctor first, so that he or she can point your son in the right direction. That combined with talk therapy by a therapist, not a doctor, works for many people.
Also, a support group, such as this one, is very effective for many as well. There is a chat room connected to this forum, I would highly recommend either you or your son visiting it and gaining some advice. There are people from all over the world in there, and they are always willing and able to help others.
Journaling has proven to be a wonderful self-help tool for many folks as well. However, in this technological day and age, journaling turns into blogging... do you think your son may be interested in that?
Good luck to you, BIKEY - hope to hear from you again soon!
