Hello

Postby LetoAtreides » Wed Sep 11, 2013 10:27 pm

Hello,

A bit about me:

I have problems with social anxiety, depression and anger. I tend to get cycles of these problems. Mainly stemming from childhood events and from situations that trigger certain bad experiences. I have been to a counsellor and have made a lot of progress in the last few years at improving my self-esteem. But I always am wary of getting into a bad pattern again, as the anger can build up unawares to me at times, only to be unleashed then followed by depression.

So that is my situations pretty much, look forward to speaking more with people on here :)

I'm glad you have had success in building your self esteem. That tends to be hard. As to the anger and anxiety, I have been having trouble there myself. I think if you keep working on it, you will see progress in time.

Good luck my friend.

Do you have any tips for building up your self esteem? I also struggle greatly with that and it would be great to hear how someone else has worked on it.

Thanks Alaska, yes it is a very slow, difficult process. I will keep trying with the anger, I am aiming at the moment to use that energy as a positive, rather than using it negatively and self-destructively.

Well Tallie, there are a number of things I have done. Firstly, and still periodically, I have to do a lot of soul searching to keep clear in my mind what matters most to me in life, so that I can be assertive about those things. Secondly, I often listen to relaxing music with positive messages in the background. Like inner talk cd's. You can download one of them for free as an mp3. Thirdly, finding a good supportive counsellor helped me alot. Whenever I am getting off track, she is there to help steer me back in the right direction.

Some things for you to consider there, hope that helps you out a bit :)
