Hi guys and/or girls!
I have had a massive motivational push from my girlfriend to get my issues out there and heard I guess.
I have been on and off suffering depression for a number of years, for no particular reason, nothing I can think of set's it off. It has sparked back up within the last month or two - again nothing I cna think of has particularly set it off.
I have what some people would regard as the "best" of lives. I have a loving family - mother and father, I live with my brother (and part time his daughter/my niece), I have the closest of friends which I regard as family, I have an amazing girlfriend who I love. I have a great, however demanding job which I have been working for the past nearly 5 years.
I have stresses, like everyone in life I guess.. However for example is that im not "doing enough" for people, I understand I am a very generous person, and I always fear my girlfriend is going to leave me for someone else - I trust her when she says otherwise though. I have only just been able to SLIGHTLY vent my issues to her, however this resulted in a lot of tears.
I am unsure of how to get it out of me, and get real help. I have not got the courage to talk in "real time" (phone/face to face counselling). I guess what im after is someone to understand, someone to discuss, and I want to finally feel satisfied with life, not feel dissapointed with myselft 24/7, and make others NOT stress about me.
Cheers!

Hi anon1986 and welcome to the forums. Yes, discussing one's issues can be very daunting but I believe the fear and anxiety associated with the thought of it is greater than the actual conversation.
It sounds as if you have many things working in your favor: family, friends, career that will help as you tackle things. You are not alone here, and there is always someone who can relate to what you express. You might want to visit of chatroom at DU as well. Chat is a peer support room for depression and its associated issues. Good luck to you and take care.
