Need to get motivated to clean. Any ideas??

Postby Ellebea » Sat Feb 13, 2016 4:59 am

Hi, all -

I've been in a major depressive slump for several months now and have let my home to go to an absolute mess. I HAVE to get motivated to clean it up. Starting today! But I have said that nearly every day for weeks now...

Mind you, I have never been one to enjoy cleaning, so depression just adds another negative level to the mere idea of cleaning a countertop, collecting clutter/trash and actually taking it to the dumpster, sorting out what may be the scariest refrigerator in recorded history that did NOT contain a human body, etc.

Does anyone have any tips to help get me going today? I know there's no way to get it all done today, but where do I start?

Ellebea,

The motivation chat thread helps me. On there we talk to someone about what we want to do, and then set a time to do it, and report what we have done.

There is a small number of people on the thread, and they are very supportive.

Remember you don't have to clean everything, you just have to make a little place clean, and work out from there. The motivation group has helped me get the bed made and the dishes done on an almost daily basis, and from there I do new things. I'm not Martha Stewart yet, but I have seen myself get better with their help.
