I am 42 years old and have suffered from depression on and off for twenty years. i am a survivor of childhood sexual and physical abuse. I recently changed career, moved house and a dear friend died in a period of 3 months. This as resulted in my latest bout of depression. I got referred to a talking therapy organisation. I had an assessment over the telephone in which they decided I had alcohol problems and until I get them sorted I will not be given any help. I do not believe I have alcohol issues. They were unhappy because I would not say I would abstain from alcohol during therapy. I probably would not have had alcohol during therapy but I don't like to make promises I may not be able to keep(would result in feeling of guilt etc). I have tried to reason with them but i'm hitting a brick wall. They have decided I have alcohol issues end of story. They have made me feel patronized, insulted, worthless, abandoned and blackmailed. I was wondering if other people had similar experiences? if people had made complaints about NHS services and if they did how they went about it. thank you
