Hey, I'm a 19 year old guy at university and for a few months now I've kinda been feelings but weird, I've felt extremely demotivated to such an extent I have barely been to uni for a month now. I'm not sure if I'm just lazy or maybe it's something more? For a few weeks now my sleeping pattern has been extremely messed up, not going to bed until about 5 due to not wanting the next day to come and just not being tired?
Then I wake up at about 2 hating myself as I've missed uni. There are times when I just feel tired and kinda empty, the best word I can find is bla. But I still enjoy myself and have fun? So I just don't know it there is something wrong with me?
Im thinking about going to the doctors but don't want to be told I'm being stupid and im just lazy. So any advice would be great, am I just lazy?
Am I depressed? Advice please?

Hi there. I'm sorry your going through a rough time. I wish there was something for certain that I could tell you that would help. Going to a University is a big step in someones life, maybe your just having a tough time adjusting. If things don't get better soon I would definitely talk to someone about finding some options as to what it would be. I DON'T believe your stupid or lazy. Hang in there o.k. Things ARE going to get better for you , you'll see. I believe in you !! Just keep your chin up.
Hello,
Firstly no doctor is going to tell you that you're stupid or lazy, that isn't even an illness. They are there to help, not there to judge you so don't let these misconceptions stop you from seeking help, what is there to lose?
You're not stupid or lazy, but just like you said demotivated. The thing you are avoiding is uni so let's start there. Are you not enjoying your course? The people? Your tutors? Too much work? Miss being at home? Try to identify what it is that is putting you off then you will know where to start for find a solution.
Being in university is a great time to shape who you are, it is not like school where they hold your hand and treat you like a child. It's that time when you make that transition from being dependent to independent and start to take responsibility for yourself.
I'm not going to lie when I was at uni everyone was having a wild time partying until the early hours, I'm not sure if this is what you're doing hence the late nights or you are having trouble sleeping. If it is the latter then I suggest doing some sport so that you burn up your energy and hold out until a suitable hour to sleep, repeat this for a few days/week and your sleeping pattern would fall back into place. If you are out partying and having fun (good for you!) enjoy yourself! I would simply say work hard and play hard, it doesn't have to be one or the other.
I hope you find a way to enjoy your time at university, good luck!
