Depression Understood Forums

I am tired of college and i don't want to be here anymore.

I have been here for 3 and half years and i just found out i have 10 classes to go. This is a lot to me because i can only take 4 classes at a time.

I am tired of being here. I have been in school my entire life. I'm very depressed and don't feel like being alive anymore. I have had depression since i was 13 years old. I am 21 now, so my depression is not just some teenage thing. I also haven't had a close friend since i was 13 years old. I haven't had any friends in the past 3 years since being in college. I feel so alone.

I cannot figure out what makes me happy any more. I need something that will keep me going in life.

I was thinking i could take a semester or so off from college and get a job. I don't have too many skills (only research, HMTL, most Adobe software, technical writing, article writing, and creative writing). I will probably have to start at the bottom like volunteering to build my resume. But i don't want to put the burden on my parents because i don't want them to waste money on me.

should i take time off from college?

I feel like if i come back next semester I won't make it. I will fail all my classes because i just don't care anymore. In fact i'm supposed to be studying for a religion test and right now i really don't care if i fail.

Please help me.

dont fret buddy,i know what its like,i went thru the same at 15 wen i was in school it just wasnt for me,finished my time and got a apprenticeship at 17 when i left school,became unhappy in that but i stuck with it,im 25 now,unemployed at the moment,but hopped on a plane,(on my own by the way) to fly 12000 miles away last month to find work in australia,no joy yet but i feel more relaxed that im trying to do it,i recommend taking a year out mate,get a part time job and look into other courses that you might get excited about doing,or take up a hobby,photography or something,never know you could enjoy that as a career?,maybe talk to your parents more about how you feel,they love you and im sure your happiness is more important to them than college fees,i wont lie to u ive hit 2 or 3 heavy lows in my life,the last one for two years,i just wont give up,it makes you stronger even if it does not seem like it at the time,your reason for lack of friends is because your engulfed in your worries,ive been there,i wouldnt talk to my friends at all at times because my mind was full of too much shit,find something that relaxes you,you dont need the company of others to enjoy yourself,and if you take up a hobby like i mentioned you could make friends in that group away from the stress of college,i know its easy for me to say all this but ive been there,the circumstance may vary but the principal is the same,chin up buddy

I'm thinking of taking a break from college or at least working on it part time so i can lower my stress.

I really need to figure out what makes me happy. does anyone have any suggestions for that?

3 month holiday visa would b a good recommend,or get a year one n work while you travel,depends on ur finances,b good for the mind though i reckon,as a student you should get cheap packages if you can acquire the money with sum part time work
