needing some friends
Christmas has come and gone and I am here today unable to get up off of the couch. I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety two years ago in November and have been on 100mg of Zoloft since then. (that episode ended in a complete break down, 28 pound weight loss in 7 weeks, emergency room visit before i sought psychiatric help) I am not sure if it is the depression returning or just over tired from the Holidays. I just feel empty and have felt that way for about the past week. No interest in anything....

Hi pfp258,
I am very sorry you're feeling that way. I can very much relate to having no interest in anything. I just posted that very subject today but haven't gotten any replies yet.
I also use the phrase "feeling empty" so much of the time when I write in my diary, because that is exactly how I feel.
I have been on a med. for years but can't tolerate a high enough dose to really help my depression. I switched to a new med 3 weeks ago but so far I feel about the same.
Is there something that has triggered your loss of interest?
Mine is because my first husband committed suicide 8 years ago this spring and my kids recently moved out and now I have no interest in anything at all. Not a thing. Even with being remarried. I still miss my first husband so much.
Do you have any friends or family members you can talk to? I don't. I have felt different from most people for my entire life - except for my first husband, and now he is gone.
I so wish that there was a place for depressed people to physically go to during the days, a place where we could be around other people who could relate to feeling this way.
I wish I could help you. Just know that there is someone else who can understand the feeling of having no interest in anything. Peace to you.

We each have our own pain. It doesn't matter whether it's been 1 year or 50. It doesn't matter how old you are. Pain is devastating. And no one person's pain is more important or less important than anyone else’s. We are all valuable and we all matter.
We each have a different physiology and will react to the same meds differently. It normally takes on average about 6 weeks to feel the full affects of a med. There are some side affects sometimes, but they generally tend to go away. It takes a trained professional to find the right med/dosage/combination to fit your specific needs.
