I used to be strong...

Postby Misty » Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:33 pm

Yeah, used to be. Now I have to wonder what has happened to get me to this point. I never sought counselling after a rape which I was a virgin at the time, nor when I was kidnapped, stuffed in the trunk of a car and driven to a remote area. Luckily I had found a wrench in the trunk and managed to disengage the lock and jumped from the vehicle when it slowed for a turn. A kind soul saw me on the side of the road and took me home. My own mother didn't believe me and when the cops questioned me they didn't believe I was able to escape. This man was finally caught and sent to prison for kidnapping and raping 6 other girls. I was actually proud of myself for dealing so well with what happened. Only recently has it come to mind again. Actually, the only time I went to counselling was after the deaths of my grandparents who raised me and I still grieve for them. This was many years ago and so far I have been able to handle most things thrown my way. Things started going downhill with health problems and then losing my job. Can it be just the accumulation of every little bad thing from then till now that has triggered something? It seems that I feel better here if I can in some small way encourage or help someone else. As soon as I can get transportation and a therapist willing to work with payments I deal as best I can. So that's it for now. Sorry for rambling but I'm not good at phrasing things. There are many great people here and I want to thank you all so much for taking the time to read this.

Hi misty, i'm really sorry to hear about what awful experiences you've been through,i really think you're right in that it is the accumulated effect of all these traumas and trying to suppress them that has got you so ill. unfortunately the human mind can only take so much. I really hope you are able to access the help you need soon. In the meantime feel free to keep writing here and count me as a friend

Misty - I am so sorry this happened to you. I can only imagine how terrifying that must have been. I also hope with all my heart that you can get some help...a professional to talk to. I hope you are able to keep writing here. We all boost each other up.

My experiences weren't anyway where near as harrowing as yours. But, my anxiety and depression also reached a crisis as a result of a combination of several things until I hit rock bottom, and then I decided to see myself as having nowhere to go but up.
I'vefound much on this site that has helped me. And, contributing ( I hope! ) to this site has also made me feel better about myself and my future.
Welcome aboard!

(((((((((((((( Misty ))))))))))))))))))))

You had gone through a lot in your life and i am so sorry this had happened to you. Knowing you, as a chatter and more importantly as a friend at the chattroom is one of the the greatest things that ever happened in my life, you know how i dont have friends in real life and then you came to me and be my friend, thank you for that. I ve seen you at the chattroom before, how you respond to people, how you help them and give opinions and advices even though you have your own issues, thats something that you can be proud of.

I believe that what had happened to you had make you a stronger person and i know that you will never give up. Remember? Tomorrow might be better than today :). Will always support you and love you Misty. Another hug for my dearest friend
