Mastery of Change

Postby iamthecountry » Fri Apr 10, 2015 6:48 am

Hello, I recovered from depression two years ago. I compiled all of the strategies that worked for me and why I think they worked for me into a free ebook. I'd like to offer it to the members of your group. I also have a mental health podcast and youtube channel. The book is attached. I look forward to your feedback!

Thank you,

Sean Morgan

I can appreciate what you're doing and saying, Sean. But its important to note (and I think you should make this disclaimer on your site and in your e-book) that your writings are based on anecdotal experience. It may not work for everyone.

I would just urge caution on your part. If you oversell it as a recovery technique (or techniqueS) it's possible to cause some harm. That said, all your strategies seem good.

Some critique? Please get rid of all the questions like "do you want to feel better?" etc. It's a preying on fear technique. Perhaps, "I've found these ways to help..."

Credentials, my friend. What are they? Being a sufferer and survivor, frankly, isn't enough. The fact you do not mention credentials tells me volumes. Maybe consider having your counselor or psychiatrist (former or otherwise) write the forward? While that won't give you credentials, it will at least make you credible.

I applaud your idea. But in my view, the book and website need some tweaking to truly become the tool you hope it will become.

Kind Regards

N
