Fires. ( As in " Keep the home fires burning, while your hearts are yearning "...etc...They don't write World War One songs like they used to...! )
Also, World War One does very strongly illustrate how marriage can be bad for people's health.
As we all know, World War One started when the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was killed while visiting Sarajevo with his wife. If Franz Ferdinand had not been married, he could not, by definition, have visited Sarajevo with his wife. Therefore he could not have been killed while visiting Sarajevo with his wife, and World War One would never have happened. Therefore the Archduke's marriage was certainly bad not only for his health, but also for the health of everyone else killed in World War One!
But, do women ever think of things like this when deciding whether or not to get married? It's all wedding dresses and bridesmaids and flowers and finding somewhere for the reception...how many women stop to think, to ask themselves: " If I say " Yes " will this trigger off a four-year long global military cataclysm in several years time "? :)
( Then again, it could be that this is just a male, history-geek viewpoint on marriage...! :? )
