Does anyone recommend GeneSight?

Postby kevinskis » Mon Mar 28, 2022 8:33 pm

I have experienced very positive benefits in terms of anxiety/depression on Lexapro, but due to persistent and horrible gastritis, I have switched to Sertraline, which so far has been horrendous in terms of having increased anxiety and depression. Rather than do SSRI musical chairs to find one that works, does anyone recommend GeneSight testing to determine which on to try next? I guess has anyone done GeneSight and found it helpful? Thanks in advance!

GeneSight is a genetic test designed to help healthcare providers personalize treatment for individuals with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and ADHD. It analyzes a person's genetic makeup to determine how they may respond to certain medications commonly used to treat these conditions.

Whether or not someone recommends GeneSight can vary depending on their experience with the test and its results. Some individuals and healthcare providers find GeneSight helpful in guiding medication choices and improving treatment outcomes, while others may have different perspectives based on factors like cost, insurance coverage, and the availability of alternative treatment options. Ultimately, the decision to use GeneSight should be made in consultation with a qualified healthcare professional who can assess whether the test is appropriate for a specific individual's needs and circumstances.
