Taking Medication

I'm 17 years old and am depressed most of the time. People at work keep asking me if I'm okay, which is worrying me because people don't normal sense that I'm not. I have talked to a couple of friends about how I feel and I know that I'm not going to hurt myself. I don't know if I want to ask someone for medication or not. What are your thoughts? I just feel strange taking something that will change me.
