Does anyone around here like movies as much as I do? Some of my favorites are:

1. The Notebook (romance)
2. The Money Pit (comedy)
3. Titanic (romance/drama)
4. Juno (dramatic comedy)
5. Riding in Cars with Boys (comedy)
6. The Family Man (drama)
7. The Lord of the Rings - all three in the trilogy (action/adventure/drama)
8. The Good Girl (dramatic comedy)
9. Sweet Home Alabama (comedy)
10.Marley and Me (dramatic comedy) IT WILL MAKE YOU CRY!!!


Those are just ten I could think of... probably many many more! What about anyone else out there? Ten favorites? Has anyone seen and enjoyed the same films as me? I'm going to keep posting the films I love as I think of them - I hope more people do the same! Maybe we can talk about them! Movies are a great escape from life, anxiety and depression sometimes.

By the way... saw, "Slumdog Millionaire" the other day and it was FANTASTIC!! I highly recommend it to everyone. Touching story that had both intense and funny moments going on... not really about a poor guy winning a million dollars; soooo much more than that! Has anyone else seen it?

I look at it as making a list of what to do while you live.

5. Boys on the Side (drew Barrymore, Whoppi Goldberg)
6. Overboard (Kurt Russell,Goldie Hawn)
7. Stepmom (Susan Sarandon)
8. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Matthew Broderick)
9. Rudy ( an older movie but a real tearjerkers,show that the
the little guy can win)
10. Marley and Me (that one is good enough that I think I may buy it)

Boys on the Side - soooo good. definitely agreed on that one. And I have to say, Monty. Rudy? I cried and cried for that one too! I didn't realize that anyone else liked The Family Man as much as me! I thought it was great. 40 yr. old Virgin is hysterical!! Didn't see The Secret Life of Bees... heard it was great though!

i see everything that is new here... i read everything but sometimes i cant think of something to respond with right away... that list of movies took me sometime to think of. i watch so many, and love so many i could keep it going forever and ever. anyways watch the secret life of bees sometime. its a really really really good movie. my mom forced me to watch it with her and im happy she did...

Yes, Borat is very very very funny! Superbad though? Funny, smart and I've probably watched it about 25 times... good comedy list there, Rob! Did you ever see, "The Money Pit," though? One of the original laugh out loud comedies of allll time!!!

I think that if some overzealous therapist was to examine my list of movies, they would probably figure out that, pretty well all of my movies have the same basic theme. That there is always hope.

As to do with the Family Man, that is one of my Christmas favorites. I keep that DVD in my room to watch, just so it is close at hand. It shows that possessions aren't everything. Reminds me of what an old man said in the nursing home "My Mercedes doesn't come in and visit me from the parking lot"

They also have the common theme: that in the end they all "get it"

I forgot my other Christmas favorites,
A Christmas Carol (the real one with Alistair Sim)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

And one, that thinking about in sad terms of the happenings of the past week is "Love Actually" with Liam Neeson in it.
The whole cast in that show put in extraordinary performances.
That one shows that the theory of, 6 degrees of separation is really true.
