Hi Wonderwoman97, I’m so happy for you! It’s wonderful that you are doing something that you passionate about. You are fantastic at making a positive difference to other people’s lives. So I think it’s great that you are spokesperson and events planner… they couldn’t have picked a better person for ...

Re: My Story
I just wanted to add something... I was in the shower and reflecting. I reflected on your situation as well as what I did today. I said earlier to try to build up a bank account of doing things we enjoy. Well, that would be considered a positive experience. So, essentially, we should try to build up...

Re: My Story
Hi Lanie, Thanks for sharing your story. I’m not sure why you hold the belief that you are not a good story teller because it was a good read. It is not surprising that you have depression and anxiety with the all intense prolonged stress in your life as well as being mistreated by family. For what ...

Hi Bandit, I have been thinking about you and your situation, so thank you so much for the update. I’m so happy to hear that you have a supportive wife. Life is more bearable when we have loving and supportive people in our lives. Congratulations on the new job. At least it is something to bring som...

Re: How to find a solution for social anxiety?
Hi WestonCB, Congratulations on your stopping drinking alcohol, despite the difficulty. What is it about medication and CBT that you are unsure about? There are definitely other solutions that are just as effective, if not more. This, of course, depends on the individual, as what works for one perso...

Re: What’s the point of living if you never lived.
That is a tragic outcome with your parents. I can’t even imagine how hard this must be for you as both a carer and to see your dad this way. After everything you have been through, and still going through, it is completely understandable why you would feel life is not worth living. I get the deep de...

Re: dealing with some issues
Based on what you described, hopefully you have only situational depression at worst, which is a result of overwhelming or traumatic experiences. This type of depression is short-term and is usually resolved once you come to terms with the loss. However, whether situational or clinical depression, b...

Re: Living abroad with anxiety and depression
Hi Lolalu, I’m sorry you are in a horrible situation in your life and that you feel like your life is not worth living. I also feel for you in that you have a lack of family support. I know this feeling all too well. But there is hope, and you can turn this completely around. Based on what you said,...

Re: Where does the time go?
Thanks for sharing, I hope you are feeling better. I’m sure things will be okay. Life is dynamic and so are we, so change is inevitable. When and how quickly things get better depends largely on ourselves: our resiliency, determination, willingness to change, open-mindedness, access to resources, re...

Re: Getting Rid of the Worry.
I thought I would have depression for life. For over ten years, I tried to overcome it to no avail. So, like you, I figured that I would always have depression and be miserable, so I stopped trying to overcome it. Ironically, this was what set the stage to overcome depression. I’m not sure why this ...

Re: My story of depression
Hi Bandit, Congratulations on being a family man. This is something I have always yearned for, but for some reason it never worked out that way for me... at least not in this lifetime. But I’m still happy because I have many other things to enjoy in life, and many more that I can find to enjoy. The ...

Re: Started medication
Good job continuing therapy. For therapy to work, the client needs to work it and to give it time to work. The same goes for any medication that you take. Give the medication time to work. How long did the doctor who prescribed the meds say it will kick in? Many drugs take around 4-6 weeks to work. ...

Re: What is the Point.
If only depression was a simple as that, and just disappear on its own all because you “get to middle school”, etc. If anything, the longer you don’t deal with it, the worse it becomes. I totally hear you about the cigarette behavior. Even as a kid, I have always been baffled why people take on such...
