get over it is a polite way of saying shut up i'm tired of hearing this. One thing I would do, is sit down and confront her saying "i know you don't believe in depression and have little compassion for it, but this is how I am feeling and if you truely care for me, you will try to find enough s...

Any time you are having difficulties it's always best to talk to a school advisor or the professor to see what options are available to you. Most schools and/or professors will make allowances for almost every type situation. They want to see you succeed, not fail and will try to help all they can t...

The mind will affect the body just as the body will affect the mind. However, some of these symptoms can also be explained by a multitude of physical problems as well. It's always best to check with a doc to make sure it's the depression and not an illness.

First off, you cannot take responsibility for someone else's actions/thoughts/words/decisions. You don't have that kind of power. Second, you can't "fix" someone else either. It sounds like she's been doing what we are famous for, wearing a mask and keeping up appearances as best we can. E...

I have a lot of trouble sleeping too. Sleep deprevation has some very serious side affects. I'm glad you were able to finally sleep again. I tried sleeping aids but most of them made me feel like a zombie the next day, however, i think changing the time you take your meds each day is a good idea. I ...

Self diagnosis and self medicating is never the right choice. Alcohol and drugs distort the thinking process. Doesn't depression do that enough? Plus, once you sober up, the same problems are still there waiting to be dealt with, plus a whole new set from the actions/words/behavior we exibit while i...

I know how frightening it is, but you really do need to speak to a counselor. You don't have to take meds even if they prescribe them. Just tell the counselor that you prefer to find another method of treatment and refuse to take medication you feel could potentially become harmfull or have side aff...

Never feel sorry for needing help. Needing help is not a sign of weakness or failure. It's a sign of being human. We all need help at some point or another in our lives. Seeking help when we need it is one of the most responsible things we can ever do. It shows the maturity in being able to recognis...

Talking is a great start to healing. Talking to a therapist or counselor can help you in making great strides towards healing. Therapy, medication, meditation, healthy diet, proper hygien, exercise, these are all just tools that help us to achieve our goals. Some we use, some we discard. I do hope y...

Being too polite to say is not a good way to handle things with your doctor. The doc cannot adequately help you if they don't know the whole story and the truth. Look at it this way, this is a person who has dedicated their entire career and life to helping others. By not being open and honest, you ...
