Re: Light therapy
I have used light therapy many times. I first tried the light panel and staring at it for 5 minutes that felt like 2 hours. I became very irritable from focusing on a blank screen which increased the presence of depressive thoughts. I then found my perfect variation of light therapy. Its called &quo...

Re: Is this an anxiety related issue? Please help me!
I have a similar symptom where I hear a "ringing". I've determined it is defiantly from anxiety and panic episodes. I'm quite certain that when the anxiety makes me tense, clench my jaw, and have a tense/ridged posture. This causes my "ringing" due to increased tension in my faci...

Re: My friend thinks i'm faking depression
I believe there may be multiple things that would cause your friend to respond the way he did/does. I talked with a few people that was lectured about depression and suicide. They still had no understanding of how it feels or how anyone could feel like that. As if trying to understand fictional stat...

Dificulties with comunication
I grew up with a father who was very "hands-off" and almost neglectful when it came to my upbringing. My parental care and world knowledge came primarily from my school friends and other kids. I also have inherited some sort of weakness in my language abilities as well. These factors toget...

Re: Getting a Pet for Depression
Hi white lavender, My dog has been helpful for me in a way similar to an actual friend. I'll notice a change in his behavior which means I'm not feeling good. He is my "mood thermometer". I use the care I give him is a guide for how I should care for myself, especially during the worst of ...

Re: Shopping to take the pain away
I have had a buying addiction phase. What stopped/reduced the urge was associate buying with a painful result. I felt bad about how my actions were effecting others. That got me in "remission". I also would over eat sugary foods, and have a horrible diet. More recently that one was dampene...

Re: I keep failing myself and everyone around me
There does seem to be depressive symptoms in what you describe. I do, though, relate to exactly what you are feeling. That thought of "letting others down, letting yourself down" sounds like depression talking. Depression rears its head very randomly and falsely seem logical and truthful. ...

Re: New Member Introduction
I'm very sorry for your loss. About the depression you are experiencing, your symptoms sound "normal" for depression. A helpful way to think about it is depression tries to kill you. It does so by altering your perception toward negativity, shutting/slowing down your body functions, minor ...

Re: UNHAPPY KID
I've written poems like that, and still write sometimes now. It was what I wrote that caught my parent's attention as a "cry for help". There is a common understanding that people become less controlled by their minds after around 25 years old. A psychiatrist told my mother that she needed...

Re: The 5 senses of depression and sitting in the back seat.
I recognize that relationship with one's self and their depression. I remember how becoming more depressed seemed to feel better than not. Depression was, in a perspective of self manner of speaking, a dependable friend that allows me to simplify my day. Like the sun rising and setting each day, I e...

Re: My feelings on the hypocritical oppresion within society and everyone's obliviousness to it
I too have thoughts on how society is morally selfish and insensitive to say the least. After following those thoughts to where they ceased to be significant I came to understand why I felt so strongly about the subject in the first place. The pains I feel are bad enough without the expected civil u...
