Re: Another new depressed person who talks too much.

Thanks for the support, it actually means a lot! On Friday I left work, feeling fine but 2-3 minutes along the road it started to hit me. Another weekend with nothing to do. I decided not to go out on Friday because I was just too miserable and it was getting to me. I kept busy enough to get out on ...

Re: Another new depressed person who talks too much.

I'm not 100% sure. She was accusing me of lying to her about my past. I had to remind her we'd known one another for a number of hours and I hadn't had time to pour out all of my entire life story just yet. In the end she calmed down and we're planning on meeting for lunch. She then cut her email ac...

Re: Another new depressed person who talks too much.

I never did find out how the date went. I met him last night and he said he'd tell me later. We went outside to a table and a guy walked by. I sold him a scooter about a year ago and we'd met a few times so he came over and joined us. Something was said and my friend kicked off at me. He started sho...

Re: Another new depressed person who talks too much.

I'll make it work, I'm a survivor. I went out last night for a quiet drink with a friend. He's a HIV+ drug-addicted alcoholic with the IQ of a potato and a massive belief that he's something terrible special. He managed to arrange a date online with a local ladyboy (his personal preference) but it w...

Re: Another new depressed person who talks too much.

The place I live is a nightmare. Yes, I think about leaving every day but I have a son here and I have to put him first. I'm working towards it but it will take time.

Re: Another new depressed person who talks too much.

Thanks very much! I'm actually fine during the week, it's the weekends where it gets bad. Last night I had dinner with a friend. She's an ex-student of mine who somehow decided I was going to be her surrogate dad. She's now my son's godmother and I worked with her to write a YA (young adult) novel. ...

Re: Another new depressed person who talks too much.

Thanks for that! It really just helped to get it out. I keep things to myself a lot. I am great in front of my kids, I keep the atmosphere fun and upbeat but once I'm alone... well, you get the idea.

Re: I feel so pressured

I sympathise. I'm a teacher and I know first hand how stressful this time of your life can be. Exams aren't a good way of measuring your worth, your potential for future success or your understanding of the subject. They should have be done away with years ago! But they're not, so get through them. ...

Silly poems

I'm a writer, as well as an English teacher. I usually do high-school but picked up some lower Grade-7 classes this year. In the country I work there's no actual curriculum so we're left to teach whatever we want. We have a book to work through but it's garbage! We were doing adjective order and all...

The downs, ups, downs and downs of Jack.

I had a weird childhood and it left me a bit screwed up. My parents aren't good people. It could have been worse and I'm not complaining about it. It's just how it was. I had a girlfriend that I liked but she was schizophrenic. I don't think she was anywhere near as bad as they said she was and I wo...

It's scary! He's upping the meds, even though they don't work. Not long ago, they might have done brain surgery on you, the history of mental health and medicine is a dark and ugly one. Firstly, you need to be very careful about taking advice online, or even from experts. Take everything with a pinc...

Re: I can't start doing anything

Build a new routine. I exercise every day, I have a demanding job and other things that constantly force me to work to my limits. Identify the problems and remove them. You have negative habits that are in the place of positive ones. You have the same amount of time as everyone else, you just use it...

Re: People who recovered: How did you do it?

For a long time, I beat this. How I did it, I changed my life. I know it sounds like a cliche, but I just abandoned my horrible, dreadful, crushingly awful existence and left it behind. It wasn't easy. It took a long time, it took a lot of work but I did it. It's gone wrong again now but I know it's...

Re: Unable to express my emotions

If you find it difficult to express your emotions, find an outlet. I'm a writer, I pour out my feelings that way, but anything will work. Cook, build something, draw, ride a bike, learn a new language. Anything!

Re: Depression and loneliness

I feel pretty isolated myself, so I understand how you feel. I had a dog too, I loved that horrible little mutt. He was aggressive, wilful and arrogant. I would throw him in a bag and strap it to my chest and go for a ride. He loved going on the bike and would jump up on it and wait for me. I live i...
