Re: Is seeing friends good for depression?
Speaking as someone who suffers from depression, it's a hard situation. And it's even harder to convince someone to seek help if they don't feel ready. I'll be honest the only reason I got help was because I'd hit rock bottom and tried to kill myself. For someone in that situation who's family is le...

Self-Loathing
Hi. So I usually post about depression but I decided that I could really use some advice on this. It was pointed out to me by a close friend a few months ago that I'm very negative towards myself and that while I'm forgiving towards most others when it comes to me and my mistakes or what I perceive ...

Re: Greetings
Hi, LittleThings. So I tend to repress things instead of dealing with them, sadly I'm very good at it. But I can say that posting on the forum can be very therapeutic. It's actually easier for me to express all of the things I'm dealing with here than at my therapy appointments. The animosity makes ...

Hi. Speaking as one of the severely depressed members on the site, you need not be evicted. It's probably good to have someone with an outside view who's studied mental illnesses to give the rest of us some perspective.

Re: My friend is highly depressed - Need advice for treatment
Hi. I'm not really sure how to start this reply but I do have some advice that might be helpful based on personal experience. When I was in a mental health hospital twice a week each patient was required to go to a family therapy session. It would be your friend and her parents in a session with a t...

Re: Dead inside
Here's the truth: you'll never be that person again. Even if you over come your depression you'll be a different person because you know what it's like to struggle to just get up in the morning. I like to think that once we do get to the other side and kick depression's butt that we're stronger peop...

Really Struggling
Hi, I've been a member of the forum for a while but I haven't been on in awhile. So last winter I tried to commit suicide. Long story short, a friend saved me and I spent time in a hospital and got some help. I'm still really struggling though. I thought having my family know would make it easier to...

Re: At what point can I overcome a fear?
Dear Peanutbasher, Okay since you shared your fears I'll share a couple of mine. First, I have an extreme phobia of needles, I always have and when I was younger and had to get shots I would scream as if someone were trying to murder me. I have a fear of heights and I am really afraid of flying. Unf...

Always Tired
I've been dealing with my depression for four years and I've realized lately (as in the past year or so) that I have trouble sleeping and no matter how much sleep I get I'm always tired. Does anyone else struggle with this aspect of depression?

Re: Hi, I'm new and need a friend
Hi. I think most of us on here can understand how you're feeling. I personally can sympathize with the situation you face with your siblings. My older brother was abusive to me growing up and while I love my little sister I feel I can't tell her about my depression because I don't wish to burden her...

Re: Hello, I'm new.
Dear Cloudatlas, I know from personal experience it can be really hard to maintain close relationships with people while struggling with depression. I won't bother you with my whole story but I can offer you some advice. Sit down with your boyfriend, preferably when you are have a better day, and ex...

Re: Hiding My Pain...
Dear encouraging916, I just wanted to say thank you for you reply, and the advice. It actually made my day better. Funnily enough I am a writer, or at least I'm someone who write and hopes to one day have my stuff published. I have also kept a journal for a few years now and it has been helpful. I'm...

Hiding My Pain...
Hi. I'm not really sure where to start. I guess I really joined this site because I needed to be able to express everything I've been holding in have have someone actually hear me and understand. Most of the people in my life don't notice that I'm depressed. I'm fairly certain if they knew, my famil...
