It was us against the world back then
Together through thick and thin
Brother and sister, you and I
Stuck by each others side
Through all the boyfriends that mom had
Through all the indifference shown by dad
We found a friend in each other
That could only be shared by sister and brother
We sometimes talked for hours on end
I'm truly thankful for the times we had back then
The laughs we shared, and even the fights that we had
Comforted me when I was sad
I knew no matter how much I messed up, no matter how much I failed
There was someone I could always tell
Who wouldn't belittle me or put me down
Who was willing to coax a smile from a frown
Those times were so precious, and now they are treasured
I'm grateful to you beyond measure
And I know I don't always say it, and a times I can be a pain

And I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for always being there
And to let you know just how much I appreciate you and that I truly care
And I am so grateful for the friend I have in you
