Weeping Willow

I ran away
but there was no place to go
I looked for a friend
but there was no one near
so
I climbed a tree and looked
around -----
there was nothing to see;
because all was abandoned and
lonely
I wanted to stay invisible in my tree
forever; but still
I needed to be with someone, be-
cause I was afraid
of the aloneness I felt ----------
so
I began to climb down from the
sheltering tree,
but could find no one to help me
descend ----
I started to cry, but could sum-
mon no tears ----------
there was only that sadness I
could not explain,
I found myself shrouded in a sense of
emptiness and futility
that made me want to fly
out of my hiding place
out of my hiding place
and disappear forever......
