A Walk in the Park

A walk in the park,
Is the sunshine,
In my baby's eyes,
Where children play,
Weave daisy-chains,
Scale climbing frames,
Laughter and grazes,
And oopsy-daisies,
Perambulators....
Don't talk to strangers!
My baby's smile,
is caught in my eye,
Her innocent words,
Are etched in my mind,
Like running cries,
Through cut-lawn-mist,
Ball for a dog and plane in the sky,
'Mammy, don't be afraid of strangers in the park!'
Her child's voice stolen,
And her kiss,
Her cardboard wings,
That cannot fly,
I lift her up by the reigns,
As she falls forgotten,
Like summer ice-cream,
'You see it was Daddy who broke my heart'
Is the sunshine,
In my baby's eyes,
Where children play,
Weave daisy-chains,
Scale climbing frames,
Laughter and grazes,
And oopsy-daisies,
Perambulators....
Don't talk to strangers!
My baby's smile,
is caught in my eye,
Her innocent words,
Are etched in my mind,
Like running cries,
Through cut-lawn-mist,
Ball for a dog and plane in the sky,
'Mammy, don't be afraid of strangers in the park!'
Her child's voice stolen,
And her kiss,
Her cardboard wings,
That cannot fly,
I lift her up by the reigns,
As she falls forgotten,
Like summer ice-cream,
'You see it was Daddy who broke my heart'
