Dear Matthew - poem (R.I.P.)

[true story. RIP Matt :/ ]

My Dear Matthew

When all you wanted was peace
To assist, in a heroic way…
With no ego that was outrageous,
No inner cores of anger or resentment…
No, for there was no hatred boiling;
Just wanted to end the fight, on that day…

A little too much they swallowed,
Being smart, you didn’t dare to sip
That poison that steals ones soul-
Oh! The devilish lies of the liquor!
That beat them into to a drunken stupor,
Leading to generate the combat, come quicker
You did what your heart foretold

You stopped the turmoil and bickering,
With no vile, cruel words used withering
Pure reason: to cease the battle, ‘twas brewing
As you walked into fate, taking its toll…

Childish and raged, he went outside discreetly
And grabbed his knife, quite firm and quickly
To storm back into that house, knowing what he was seeking
To ensure that you suffered, with no second guess or thinking…..
Plunged that knife, to your inner core of breathing…

One!
As the knife, lashes away…
Two!
The lights, starting to dim and fade…
Three!
With barely any air left to breathe…
You fall in conviction, down to your knees

Frozen still, they stood as statues
Being witnesses, to a murder and death
The manslaughter that they produced on their own
All due to a brave soul; putting a fight to rest…

I hope you’re in peace now, my dear Matthew
You are missed, and loved by us all
You shall never be forgotten for your courage
While putting a stop to your peers’ senseless brawl

An inspiration, a landmark, a milestone
You’re a footprint in our hearts and ways
I will always remember you, dear cousin
For the present, and forthcoming days
