Negative Spaces

Postby Chillingworth » Thu Nov 11, 2010 10:43 pm

But you will find him, beat and broken,
In the valley of his dreams.
He'll be alive, but only just,
And never more quite as he seemed.
You will find him beyond your hearts,
Where more things are found than you can know.
His world is being torn apart
And scattered through the snow.

Someone help him, he's not alright.
Someone, quickly - or not at all.
This is your chance. Will you take it?
Or will you let him fall?

I have found a call to being
Somewhere between these drops of rain
And in the voids where no-one hears
Those who are still afraid.
I have found a life in living
Along the edges of despair
Where Hope, her greatness, springs eternal,
In futures unaware.

Please don't help me, I'm quite alright.
I'm really, now, quite fine.
The world's before me, and so are you...
I would it were a lie.

Please don't help me, I'm still quite sane.
The voice I hear is only yours.
This is my chance. Would you take it,
Like many a me before?

Please don't help me.

Thank you for having me. :)

I don't know what you mean by a collection. Is that something people do often here? Most of what I've read here have been singular poems.

I thought you might be doing a book! Guess, I wondered if you ever thought about doing a book of poems. :)

Oh. Well, nope. Not really. I just write as a release for my thoughts and feelings. If I compiled them into a book, I'd feel like they'd all (my poems) be cheapened a little. :?

Thanks Jeanie.. here's another.

I'm sorry, you'll have to speak up
I'm hard of hearing, heard of hardship?
I sure haven't, haven't seen a day of joy

The sun is high now across the world
And I'm just waiting for my life to be unfurled
Its dusty pages still being writ
Still being writ, I hope

My spirit isn't like yours, not nearly quite as full
But spirits often greet me and keep me comfortable
They say I shouldn't have them, I'm not sure I do
Nor will I while the sunny days are kept sunny with you

Sunny like tomorrow, the day after and yeah
It's nothing like in fairy tales, much better, better told
And old, now in antiquity, and occasionally cold
And I'm still waiting on my story to unfold

I would have you know, you're not the first to hear
Nor I - I'm hard of hearing, and hard to wrap in fear
Of darkness and of tragedy, of loneliness and death
They tell it like it is when they're stuck inside your head

I'm sorry, you'll have to speak up
I'm hard of hearing, heard of me?
I sure haven't, haven't yet a need

Thanks for your kind words Jeanie. I really appreciate them. :)

The shadows in the parking lots are dancing in the light,
Their bodies taller than their souls, their visage that of fright.
They jump this way and glide across these godforsaken trees
Whose branches, bare and broken, are all this shadow sees...

They're not so free, now, are they? They're trapped under the sky
Whose limits are no more unknown, nor an answer to each why.
I'm trapped beneath them, in my car, held here by their glow
Unholy and yet desperate - I died here long ago.

But shades of grey are tapping softly beneath my rubber wheels,
As if to wake me; as if to make me recall how dying feels.
My window's melting, face is swelling, rain falls from my eyes:
The shadows, now deprived of light, are still as my light dies.

But this is all just fantasy
This is all just make-believe
Because my dreams are nothing more
Than of my final eve.

But this is all just a nightmare
Boiled in a broken mind
Screaming, now, and sick with pain
He asks if he can dream again.

But this is all insanity
Derailed by gross calamity
And oversensibility-
This is all just me.

Here's another...

Words (today)
Sing
out your name.
-Shallow hearts will tell a tale
That you and I can never know.
Sing out - amidst the cold and lonely waves
beyond the seas: there we will go.
- O! Heaven is a relative term,
God is a state of mind.
Nowhere's better than anywhere
To love and be left behind.

Whisper
my stale name.
- Shallow words, shallow feelings
In guise of grandeur: this is me.
See my love! She is a word
That Love can never be.
- I'd rather a face, a loving voice
A friend - an earthly state of mind.
Today's better than someday
To smile and laugh in kind.

Chilling, these could be great lyrics to songs. I love it.
