This is not a complete answer, but it might help.
On the spot you are constantly at, try hot pepper oil. It actually heals, and gives a sensation that cuts short the damage picking at something can cause.
That's the quick fix. The longer term fix is to do something with your hands that take both hands. Needlework, gaming, an athletic sport like swimming where you don't have time to do anything else but use your full body in the activity.
It is a horrible part of anxiety and I wish us all well in trying to exit it that particular thing out of our lives.
