Breakage and Beauty

Postby Frame » Mon Jan 06, 2014 12:13 pm

Breakage:

Usually we think of breakage as a negative thing (I do anyway).
Unless we're talking about manacles of bondage; even then it depends,
Manacles on others (and even ourselves) can make us feel safer.

What about breaking something beautiful; Or am I really saying what about breaking something of value? But wait a minute. Are beautiful things valuable or are they priceless? Are human lives valuable or priceless? Are ugly things valuable or priceless? Are priceless things valueless? (Stop my brain please!)

And what about beauty? Like joy and sadness, there seems to be a thin line between ugliness and beauty depending on who we are and how we feel. When something beautiful is broken, is it no longer beautiful? Is it no longer priceless? Is it no longer valueless? Let's save the electronic ink, sit in silence for a moment, and ask the same questions about ugliness.

Is it not true that sometimes beautiful thing must be broken in order to reveal their real beauty; sometimes to reveal the beauty around them?

Beauty is subjective, something beautiful to you may not be beautiful to others. It will have value if you value it, it can be priceless if it is priceless to you.

You can break something beautiful, beauty can fade but it can remain beautiful as long as you think it is. It doesn't even have to exist anymore but the memory of it can live on in your heart or in your mind. It can be an experience, an object, a person, a poem, a song.. It doesn't change, only your thoughts towards it does.

Sometimes flaws and cracks is what makes it beautiful. The history of it or things its has been through to become what it is today. Learn to see beauty in things "imperfect, impermanent and incomplete" ~ look up Wabi Sabi

Beauty is what is on the inside and not what is on the outside. Beauty doesn't break us, it's what makes us that breaks us.

Not entirely true. Some things are beautiful on the outside or inside or both. some things can be visually pleasing to our eyes, a face, a car, a painting but there are also other ways to appreciate beauty in things such as using our other senses. It can be a moment, a combination of things; the wind blowing through your hair, the distant sound of the waves, the warmth of your partners embrace. Feel it through your other senses and not only with your eyes x
