I'm sorry that your younger self was so shocked / traumatised by what happened all those years ago. Traumatic experiences, especially those from childhood, can have a lasting impact on a person. However, I'm sure you realise, as an adult, that there are more awful and traumatic events than someone being chased round a car. Perhaps it's time to sit down with your young self and explain to him that mum was OK in the end and that the nasty man has gone away for good. This is just my opinion and I'm not a therapist. To be honest I think that you'd benefit from seeing someone who is a professional in the field who should be able to help you untangle everything.
Feelings and emotions regarding depression, anxiety and other health issues.
