Snow

Postby Frame » Sun Jul 07, 2013 1:51 pm

Unity; Duality; Trinity; Quaterny...
Perhaps that's enough.
Have I gone to far?
But somewhere in the dark, on a quite night filled with drifting snow
It seems we need a fourth...after all...
to utter the sound Earth we need the t and the h.

Deep in the bounded frozen quadrants: first, second, third,
...no it's just not sufficient. And yet
The ultimate in stability is the trinity.

And we cannot escape that what makes the world go round
is action-reaction of people, things, atoms, quarks taking sides
marshalling all their energy at odds.

And all we really want is to believe in one true thing.

Of course, 4/4 time does seem inherently more peaceful.
If only I could don my ski goggles
lie down in a fecund frozen field and let the flakes
build a translucency over my soul
a whiteness I understand, that understands me
mother earth understands
No matter how far astray we may wander, she'll always take us back.

Cold ain't so great either

Postby Alaska1958 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:31 am

Last winter was my toughest yet and I've lived in Fairbanks for over half a century. In December I ran out of fuel oil a few days before the temperature dropped down to - 40. My fuel oil company wouldn't bring me any more because I hadn't paid for the last oil I'd ordered. My house was damn cold for two or three weeks there. A month later my mom sent me enough to pay off the old bill and I got another tank full.

It's a hell of a thing when a 55 year old man is asking his 93 year old mother to buy his fuel for him. I never had to do it before, but I'm real worried about next winter.

Perspective, perspective Frame.

Turning Tables

I know exactly what you mean Alaska, when it comes to needing money and having money. Many people (all over the world) who never thought they would be in this position are financially desperate.

So keep in mind that your not alone. I think it's also possible that many people are suffering (sometimes because those who have funds are oblivious but also) because they have strict and strong moral views about who, how and when to ask for help. The world is changing and I believe our concepts about how to survive this era will also have to change.

I'm glad your not out robbing banks or killing walruses for their blubber.

BTW my house was pretty cold this winter too. Not that there's any competition with your winters.

Hi Frame

Postby Alaska1958 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 2:37 pm

Thanks for the feedback Frame. Looking at some of my posts, I'm seeing a trend I don't like. Several of them have a certain "you think your life is tough? Look at mine". For the record I would like to categorically state is that I do not believe that. My life has been really, really easy up until the last few years. Yes, I've struggled with depression most of my life, but I've been able to function pretty well for most of that time.

I have a small family, but I am lucky in that they have always made me feel loved and have really tried to be there for me.

Anyway, I just wanted to get that on the record.

I really glad to hear that Alaska, for this reason; I think much if not all of our frustrations rooted in our judgement of ourselves in comparison to others. I think it's difficult, at least for me, to be aware when I'm doing it. It's good when we do.
