depressed nephew

Postby Pedroski » Thu Mar 20, 2014 10:01 am

Hi, my nephew is very depressed and tonight told me on skype he sees no point in living. I uselessly told him he is young and healthy and good looking, all things he, I suppose, does not want to hear.

I have no training or experience in depression. I told him to go to a doctor. His reply was "This is England". I'm sure there must be help to be had in England, not just pills.

I told him to look for forums and talk to people who have similar experiences. He was, hardly surprising, very negative.

How can I help him break out of this vicious circle self reinforcing negativity he is in?

Thanks for any tips, advice, comments.
