mother of a manic depressive 30yr old

Postby Nix » Thu Feb 28, 2013 6:23 pm

My daughter has been treated for depression for 6 yrs now.She is on medication but refuses to carry through any therapy. I have done everything I can do and drained myself economically. I reckon she actually likes her state and watching the destruction it causes around her. Is this a horrible thing to think or is the demon depression its own best friend? Does anybody know of a rehab centre to get her back into the real world.?

I'm sorry your are having to deal with this. It's hard not only on the sufferer but the family too. Maybe talk to her and see if she will open up to you about why she truly doesn't want therapy. I know for me it took a long time as I didn't think they would be able to help, or judge me, or use things against me etc. Going to therapy can be a very scary thing. Just a few thoughts on my take.
