My dog is six years old (or 7)
we got him when he was four so we dont
know much about his training, he runs away
alot, we have to be really careful when we
open our front door because e belts it and
we have to chase him.

The only thing he does is sit.

How can i train him so late on to lie down?
To give paw?
And to come back to me instead of running away?

Much LOVE

Hey Friday...

I can tell you, from my own experience, that training a dog is hard work! It depends on the breed, I've learned. Some breeds train better than others. My dog's breed, Siberian Husky, does NOT. She can do the basic stuff, but I cannot let her off the lead or she will leave and I will never see her again.

Dakota was trained by being repetitive and using treats to reward her for accomplishing a trick. She can: sit; go up on two legs; speak; give paw; and stay. Not much, but quite an accomplishment for this stubborn dog of mine!

My suggestion is for you to go on-line and look up your dog's breed and how to train. Also, definitely try rewarding him with treats...if it worked for Dakota, it must work for other dogs. Good luck!

Well, ,Friday, according to my favorite dog trainer of all time, Ceasar Milan, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Look up Ceasar - he is so wonderful that he must have been a dog in a former life!

You're most welcome!! I'm definitely down for dog-talk anytime at all... so many issues with my Dakota. I love her, but she really does drain me sometimes. Would love advice if you feel up to it!
