Question was:

What mythological female was turned into a spider by the goddess Athena?

Answer:

Arachne. She was really good at weaving, one of the household arts sacred to Athena. When her work was compared to that of Athena herself, she didn't deny she was as good. So Athena herself appeared to her in the guise of an old woman to give her a second chance to show some humility. Instead, Arachne dared to challenge the goddess to a weaving competition. Athena went first and wove a tapestry that depicted prideful humans being punished by the gods. Arachne's tapestry actually was better than that of Athena, but showed the gods engaging in immoral behavior. Athena destroyed it and Arachne tried to hang herself. Athena turned her into a spider (a weaver) instead. That's why we call spiders "arachnids."

Next Question:

Butch Cavendish and his gang ambush and kill five of the six Texas Rangers that are pursuing them at Bryant's Gap. The lone survivor, John Reid, soon thereafter takes the identity of ______________?
