That was good to hear. It's probably better your out of there now that she's passed away. Things were bound to change for the worse. And it's also better to be around healthier people.

Good luck.

Yea so here's one: Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work on TED talks. It's pretty entertaining and it has a list of activities at the end, all of which have been mentioned here before, all of which I know work to increase happiness when we actually apply them. He also explains why they work ...

Just checking in nxalone. Throughout the time dating and then marrying my ex-wife, I think the thing I wanted the most, what was so nneeded and missing for me, was a partnership I could trust; a partnership I could be certain of. There really is no security in life but our best hope is in each other...

I think that, how are lives begin, sets the stage for all that comes after. It's a sad story right now because I believe my life is falling apart and I'm trying to raise my sites high enough to make a positive post. It was going to be about the things we can do every day to calm our mind and strengt...

I'm not sure what the tree symbolized in your last post Daniel.
But I get a sense of desperation that I can relate to.
I hope you have some inspiration to help you hold on.

I thing I understand what your saying Amac083. There are people around me who really aren't able to care. It's impossible for me not to take it personally. Yet when I do it erodes my own feeling of compassion and makes me feel I'm failing. The logical me knows it's not true, but being around people,...

Root Causes

This is an important list to me $Everme; Thank you I'd like to make one comment. We may have experienced many of these causes in the past, (perhaps during childhood), developed, and overcome the negative effects. When our present becomes full of stress for different reasons, it's not unusual to tend...

I agree with Alison. It's often hard to start talking, and often hard to stop. But in between, I think, if we can get a respectful exchange of ideas going, that's the only way to move a relationship closer our own ideal. And if each party feels like they have somehow gained then trust and security c...

Sounds like both Ieris and xken728 are both talking about less thinking. For xken it's about stopping the triggering memories before they start. And for Ieris, it's about more listening and doing. I was wondering Ieris; what are your techniques? How do you accomplish more listening and less thinking?

That being said; the state of "really wanting", something has a profound effect on our choices. In my experience, there were times in my life where the 'wants' were fewer, the path clearer, motivation easier, choices simpler. There was a time where things like; wanting to maintain my digni...

I really don't think depression, or life for that matter, is that simple Ieris. It's not about finding ways or excuses, either/or choices. Life is on a thread of time. Along the way, many of the obstacles and choices are internal but many are also external, not of our making. How we respond to those...
