Re: Looking for advice on meeting new people and making friends.

Hi, I do hope you have your friends now. Just get to know them better before you fully trust because not all who smile at you can be your true friends. Not yet, still working on trying to make friends. But trust isn't something I'm easily able to give thanks to my past experiences. I wish I had you...

Re: Looking for advice on meeting new people and making friends.

I'm happy to see that you are going to start. What kind of work do you do? Think of volunteering somewhere more as a job and let it work into building relationships and friends. I work for my local government at a wastewater treatment facility. It's not a well received job by others, but it gave me...

Re: Looking for advice on meeting new people and making friends.

I've honestly been sitting in a room during my free time for the past few years. I find that to be the most relaxing part of my day. For every 1 hour I spend outside I spend 3 indoors. Video games are the only thing I'm really into, and that's not good for social interaction. I've never wanted to be...

Re: Looking for advice on meeting new people and making friends.

I’m not involved with any churches at the moment. My family isn’t very religious, so I haven’t be exposed to church groups. As for hobbies there isn’t really anything I’m into right now. I mostly work and go to school. How accepting are church groups with people who aren’t religious? I don’t really ...

Looking for advice on meeting new people and making friends.

Okay so recently I've been trying to get out more and make some friends. There are times when I feel incredibly lonely quite often. Now I deal with depression and social anxiety; so meeting new people scares me, or more accurately it makes me really nervous when I'm around people I don't know. So ne...

Re: Always an Outcast

I don’t know what to do anymore. I read these responses, but I don’t think I can improve myself. I feel like I’m self destructing. I went to lunch by myself and saw a couple holding hands and it killed me on the inside. Something as small as that shouldn’t impact me so much, but it did. Nobody’s goi...

Re: Always an Outcast

To be blunt, you're wrong. I can tell by your post you are a sensitive and caring person, and "the one" is out there waiting for you to find her. I'm fairly certain isolating oneself makes it very difficult to find that person though. Society places great importance on certain things, phy...

Re: Always an Outcast

And, in any case, life isn't all about finding a partner. Think about the people you would like to meet or be around. From my point of view I like kind people who have something interesting to say, you know in a thoughtful way. It can be anything really from bird watching to mountain climbing. And ...

Always an Outcast

I've never really felt like I belonged anywhere. Throughout grade school I was bullied because of my height. I was the shortest person in my class and therefore the easiest target. Boy, girl, it didn't matter everyone picked on me. Even now as an adult I'm still short, standing at a pathetic 5'2&quo...

The Future is Scary

It really is when I think about it. I always wonder what will become of me so many years down the line. What will happen to me, will I be able to live comfortably? Will I be a productive member of society? It seems like I'm spinning my wheels here, like what I'm doing now won't lead to anything. Lif...

Greetings

I decided to join this forum after it was suggested to me by a user from a different forum I frequent. My main reason for being here is for me to release some of my emotions when I'm feeling down. I'm not good at expressing myself face-to-face, but I feel more at ease with web base communication. Es...

Re: Feeling Heavy

It is normal to feel how you feel many people resort to drugs or alcohol but this only compounds the problem and makes it worse. If you are abusing and drugs or alcohol I would consider looking into some dual diagnosis rehab centers to address your issues and gain the tools to recover. Best of luck...
