Re: Frequently visiting square one

"Back at square one" is something I said to my friend at dinner the other evening. Although I have been able to see my friends since moving, I have been unable to meet new people since my friendship with someone I loved fell apart. That's why I'm on this forum, alone on a Saturday night! I...

Re: How Much Longer?

Thank you, D. It has been a difficult struggle but I am so glad to finally be back home now. I still wake up weeping over the emptiness left behind since this person is no longer in my life. I blame myself for it, still. I think he was scared away because of my display of emotion in a conversation w...

Re: How Much Longer?

Update: As I am getting settled in my new place and looking for work, I am trying not to concentrate on the things that have been making me sad. I still miss the person I fell in love with, but I realize that friendship was dead a long time ago. When I began considering dating it was not so much abo...

Re: How Much Longer?

D., thank you for your heartfelt response. Those were some very good points to think over. I have been very busy and am exhausted. I will write some more later when I get back to my new home. I managed to drive the big moving van across state, and though arrival in the city coincided with rush hour ...

Re: How Much Longer?

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am in the middle of trying to move, so my nerves are shot. When I was in my twenties, I was depressed a whole lot. I really wanted to be in a relationship but I guess I was going about it the wrong way. Men I liked did not like me, and those who liked me I co...

Re: she wins....but wait, there's more!

I don't been to be so blunt, but if this woman is asking you for money, it seems like she is using you. I know 8 years is a long time to invest in a relationship. Maybe she is still attached emotionally and wants to remain friends. Breakups are so crushing, you must be feeling a horrible amount of p...

Re: How Much Longer?

"Grace" - That's really nice that you haven't lost your faith in Jesus or whatever. I assume you live in the United States where evangelical fervor is strong. I respect your right to practice whatever religion you want to. It is a free country. I would say the same if you were Muslim, Hind...

I am reading The Art of Loving, by Erich Fromm, and it is helping me acknowledge some things about myself and the concept of loving someone. I recommend this book to you, because I think it is helpful to me and hope it will be to you, too. I am trying to get out more, reach out, though it is difficu...

A letter to my ex

Oh my. I could've written this myself. I identify with what you say! I was JUST now writing a letter, which I will not send, to the person I loved! Oh, so many things I wish I could say to him! I know I cannot contact him - it's no use. He probably has blocked my messages though I rarely contact him...

Lost, not found

Hi Ann, I know it must be difficult to accept the situation you're in. I feel like I can relate to the pain you feel. The person I fell for won't call me or contact me at all and I feel total abandonment. I hurt so much I don't know how I can keep on like this. Last night I went to bed drinking. For...

Wow. This really pertains a lot to what I am going through too! After I was betrayed by someone I loved 10 years ago, only this year did I find someone I was willing to have feelings for. I was probably the one taking the friendship more seriously, since after I became upset and jealous about someth...

How much Longer?

Thanks for your reply. I am in a horrible amount of emotional pain. Spring and summer seem to be worse seasons for my depression. I try to be outgoing and reach out to people. I meet people and call them, but they have such busy lives or they sense that mine is so messed up, they don't respond to me...
