Thank you Aim for your kind words. They give me comfort in thinking my friend will/has come back to me. Sometimes we do foolish things, and to prevent from hurting anyone, the only one we end up hurting is ourselves.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Our self images are usually wrong. Our low self esteem's can get the better of us.
